Review: After the Game by Abbi Glines

after-the-game-9781481438933_hr.jpg (1400×2118)
Two years ago, Riley Young fled from Lawton, Alabama. After accusing the oldest Lawton son, Rhett, of rape, everyone called her a liar and she had no option but to leave. Now she’s back, but she’s not at Lawton High finishing up her senior year. She’s at home raising the little girl that no one believed was Rhett’s.

Rhett is off at college living the life he was afraid he’d lose with Riley’s accusation, so Riley agrees to move back to Lawton so she and her parents could take care of her grandmother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. But the town still hasn’t forgotten their hate for her, and she hasn’t forgotten the way they turned on her when she needed them most.

When town golden boy Brady Higgens finds Riley and her daughter, Bryony, stranded on the side of the road in a storm, he pulls over and gives them a ride. Not because he cares about Riley, of course, but because of the kid.

But after the simple car ride, he begins to question everything he thought he knew. Could Brady believe Riley and risk losing everything?

I am just excited yet nervous to read the new story in The Field Party series. Abbi Glines has always know how to write such power angst romance story ever. It is always unexpected but powerful to read. And After the Game will be exactly like it. There is so much that we do not know but we will after finishing it. Let's start.
From the previous books, we get a glimpse of the main female character, Riley. She seems troubled for the crew but we will discover the whole truth about her that it is going to surprise everyone here and inside the book. Riley has a tough year before she went away. No one ever believed that she was raped but it is definitely true. It is not a surprise but it is common for victims not to believe about the crime. It is a sad truth. We get to see an emotional state of Riley when she gets back to town. She is a girl woman who faced a harsh crime but it did not stop her whatsoever. I definitely love her as a person. She is strong but she is also a kind. While she is back to her hometown, she gets reunited with her family as she continued her studies and take care of her daughter. Even if she wants to avoid anyone from her past, it is a small town and it is bound for them to see her. And guess who see her first, Brady.
Brady is the golden boy that he is the nicest person ever. But it bound for Brady break rules especially when he sees Riley and her daughter. The first time he saw, he could not stop. She was drawn to him to every way that no girl ever did. He knows it is breaking the rules when he gets to see her since his crew does not like her for false lies that were spread. But he cannot stop and will not stop. It will take every will power to get Riley with him but he does not care cause she is the one for him. While he is getting Riley to the program about being together no matter what trouble, he is also going to face some home trouble that it is going to break everyone heart even your. Mine definitely did and it is so unexpected but I am proud on how Brady face the situation head on after he had an emotional breakdown.
After the Game will definitely get you feeling all kinds of emotions because you feel for them in every way since it really happens in daily life. 5 stars!
